Located on the Northern edge of Houston’s Museum District, The Carter was specifically designed with its neighbors in mind. Standing tall amongst single family houses and townhomes, it serves as a barrier to the noise from an adjacent highway yet casts no shadows on the neighborhood. A seven-level parking garage is strategically placed on the highway side of the building.
Its façade materials were selected to meld with the residential palette of brick and limestone common in the Museum District. Classical design elements and proportions were used to evoke a historic building. A heavy rusticated stone base anchors the building to the street while ornate cornices crown the top.
Expansive ground level lobbies were designed to create a grand hotel atmosphere with extensive crown molding, wood paneling, crystal chandeliers and glowing fireplaces. In summary, The Carter brings brand new luxury multifamily living to a quiet urban neighborhood in a manner that feels as if it was always there.
