East Bend is located in the Heights neighborhood and directly across from the thriving M-K-T, in Houston, Texas. Its location inside the loop allows tenants to quickly access Memorial Park, Uptown/Downtown Houston, and the Museum District.
The site was a tremendous challenge from the beginning of the design phase. Since the project sits on a flood area/floodway, hydrology studies had to be performed on building and site elements against flood events. Floodgates, flood vents, and ‘collapsible’ site elements are found on the lower levels of the project due to those reasons.
EB provides 4 thoughtful outdoor amenities: an elevated deck with panoramic views of Downtown Houston, a resort style pool deck, a calming garden, and a generous dog park. Special attention was paid to enhance the pedestrian experience and street presence. The 7-story, type III construction building utilized timeless design strategies and materials throughout, to provide much needed quality multi-family housing for the area.
