Deco 969 is the first residential tower built in Fort Worth in the last 20 years and is the city’s first apartment tower. The project’s success has acted as a beacon for the city and has ushered in a period of renewed interest in residential development in downtown Fort Worth. The 27-story, 302-unit mixed-use tower sits on three-quarters of a block across the intersection from the convention center, and a short walk away from both Sundance Square and Fort Worth Central Station. A stone colonnade and a series of canopies along the base of the tower tie the ground-level amenities and 8,000 sf of restaurant space to the vibrant urban fabric of the city, providing an eloquent termination point for the entertainment strip.
Deco 969’s design pulls from the rich history of Art Deco in Fort Worth, blending it with modern elements to create a transitional expression that captures the soul of the city. The limestone colonnade at the street level joins at the entry with a vertical expression of stone and steel that rises past the more subdued modern elements of the tower to capture 4 floors of penthouse units at the top of the building, looking down over the pool and fitness lawn on the 24th and 25th floors. A layered stone expression surrounds the main entry, rising 7 floors to surround a 5-floor tall art piece facing the convention center and the Kennedy Memorial across the street.
